We Slept in One of Texas' Most Haunted Hotels

If you’ve watched us for a while, you already know — we’re going to investigate just about anything.

Bigfoot? Absolutely.

The Goatman? Let’s go.

One of the most haunted hotels in Texas? …Okay, maybe we should think this one through first.

The second we walked through the front doors, we understood why this place has become legendary. It isn’t some abandoned building with broken windows and creepy graffiti. It’s beautiful. Massive chandeliers. Historic ballrooms. Marble floors. The kind of place you’d expect to host weddings — not ghost stories.

And that’s exactly what makes it so creepy.

Before We Started…

We wanted to make one thing clear.

We’re Christians. We weren’t there to summon anything, provoke anything, or treat the supernatural like a game.

Our goal was simple: understand why this hotel has terrified people for more than 100 years.

So before the investigation even started, we wrote down three questions.

1. Why do people believe this hotel is haunted?
2. Why is every story connected to the mysterious “Lady in White”?
3. Why are people still reporting strange experiences more than a century later?

The Story Everyone Talks About

Almost every haunted hotel has one ghost story. This hotel has the Lady in White.

According to local legend, a bride was waiting here for her wedding during the 1930s. Her groom never arrived. Some stories say he left her. Others claim he died before making it to the ceremony. Heartbroken, she wandered the hotel in her wedding dress.

Today, guests still claim they’ve seen a woman dressed in white standing silently in hallways, watching from balconies, or disappearing around corners.

Whether that’s true or not, it’s impossible not to think about that story while walking through the building.

This Hotel Has Seen More History Than We Expected

Long before people called it haunted, this hotel was one of the most important buildings in the city.

When it opened, it was the tallest building around. Presidents stayed here. Royalty visited. Huge parties filled the ballrooms.

But over the decades, there were accidents. Deaths. Tragedies. Stories that slowly turned into legends.

Then We Saw Our Room…

Honestly? It was gorgeous. Until we started looking closer.

Someone had left mysterious handprints. There were mirrors everywhere. Then someone had the brilliant idea — “let’s use the blacklight.”

Worst. Idea. Ever.

The pillows lit up. The walls lit up. The bathroom lit up. At one point we seriously questioned whether we wanted to sleep there anymore.

Forget ghosts. The blacklight was the scariest thing in the room.

Do Ghost Hunting Gadgets Actually Work?

Since we wanted to investigate — not just tell ghost stories — we brought a few tools people commonly use during paranormal investigations. An EMF meter. A motion detector. Audio equipment. Cat balls that light up if they’re disturbed.

Did we expect them to prove ghosts exist? No. We mostly wanted to understand why so many paranormal investigators rely on them, and whether there were ordinary explanations for what they detected.

Then the Door Moved

This was the first moment where all of us stopped laughing.

We were standing in the room talking when the bathroom door slowly moved. Nobody touched it.

Immediately we started checking everything. Could the air conditioner have caused it? Was there a draft? Was the floor uneven? Our equipment wasn’t showing anything unusual.

It didn’t prove anything paranormal. But it definitely got everyone’s attention.

We Left the Room… Then Came Back

Before heading to dinner, we left several motion-sensitive cat balls around the room. One in the closet. One in the bathroom. One near the bed.

The idea was simple: if anything moved while we were gone, we’d know exactly where it happened.

Or at least, that was the plan.

Coming Back Was Somehow Worse

The second we opened the door, something felt different. One of the devices wasn’t where we remembered leaving it. Another began reacting. Again.

Could there have been a completely normal explanation? Absolutely. That’s why we kept testing instead of jumping to conclusions.

But the timing definitely made us stop and pay attention.

The Moment None of Us Expected

Then one of our devices suddenly started going off. Again. And again.

We checked everything we could think of — phones, metal objects, nearby electronics. Nothing seemed to explain it.

Finally, we prayed. “I rebuke this in the name of Jesus.”

Almost immediately, the device stopped.

Could it have been coincidence? Maybe. Could there have been another explanation? Absolutely. But standing there in the middle of the room, it was one of those moments none of us are ever going to forget.

The 19th Floor Wasn’t What We Expected

If you ask people about this hotel, they’ll almost always tell you to visit the famous 19th floor. So naturally, that’s exactly where we went.

We expected dark hallways, strange noises, something terrifying.

Instead, it was beautiful. Soft music. Elegant ballrooms. Historic photographs. Bridal suites. It honestly felt more peaceful than creepy.

Ironically, our own hotel room had been way stranger than the “most haunted floor.”

The History Behind the Legends

As we explored, we learned about several tragic accidents connected to the hotel over the years. An employee fell down an elevator shaft shortly after the hotel opened. Another elevator operator died years later. Additional accidents happened throughout the building’s history.

Those real events helped shape many of the ghost stories people still tell today. When enough tragedy happens in one place, it’s easy to understand why legends begin to grow.

We Barely Slept

Neither did the hotel.

Every little sound suddenly seemed louder. The air conditioning made strange noises. We heard footsteps. Voices. Music somewhere in the distance.

Could most of it have been a busy historic hotel? Probably. But when you’re already wondering whether your room is haunted, your imagination starts filling in the blanks.

Sleep wasn’t exactly easy.

So… Is the Hotel Haunted?

Here’s what we actually walked away believing.

We don’t think every strange noise automatically means there’s a ghost. Historic hotels naturally make sounds. Old elevators move. Pipes expand. People come and go at all hours.

At the same time, we also understand why this hotel has earned such a legendary reputation. Its history is real. Its tragedies are real. Its stories have been passed from generation to generation for over a century.

Whether every paranormal claim has an ordinary explanation, we’ll let you decide.

One Thing We Know For Sure

We came expecting a haunted hotel. Instead, we found something much more interesting.

A place where real history, heartbreaking stories, beautiful architecture, and decades of local legends have blended together into one unforgettable experience.

And honestly, that might be even more fascinating than ghosts.
